BIO: Amy Cameron is an Executive in Charge of Production, Drama, at CBC Television and is also an experienced screenwriter, story editor, author and award-winning journalist. As part of the CBC Drama team, Cameron oversees the creative content for HEARTLAND (Season 8), REPUBLIC OF DOYLE (sixth and final season) and the six-part miniseries BOOK OF NEGROES (airing January 2015.) She also handles the development on several one-hour drama projects.
Before joining the CBC Drama team, Cameron was Head of Development at Vérité Films and an executive on the CBC Comedy team. Co-creator of the CBC Drama WILD ROSES (2009), Cameron is also the author of Playing with Matches: Misadventures in Dating (2005).
In her life before television and film, Cameron was a business and entertainment editor for Maclean’s and a regular contributor for Owl Magazine, The Globe and Mail and Chatelaine. She also spent four years as the crime and aboriginal affairs reporter for The New Brunswick Telegraph Journal. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre, Cameron also holds a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University and a degree from a very fancy fashion design school in Paris, France.
