ABOUT BRIAN LEVY
Brian Levy is a casting director based out of Toronto. Since 1985 he has been casting for television, feature film, and commercial projects in Canada, the U.S and Europe. He came to casting indirectly starting in the industry as an actor, training at the prestigious Vancouver Playhouse Acting School. While with the Playhouse Brian had the honour of being cast in two shows that directly involved renowned American playwright Tennessee Williams.
Brian moved back to Toronto in the early 1980’s working at a variety of positions, becoming assistant to a busy and well-known Toronto casting director. Brian was a natural fit into casting community. He understood acting, auditioning and seemed to have a decent head for business. Brian developed his casting style over the years and works both sides of the ‘tracks’ casting extensively commercially and in long form for television and film projects. Today his resume is impressive, diverse and reflective of his unique style as a casting director.
Brian has tremendous passion for acting, actors and the process. This is reflected in his casting, his professional relationships, and how he takes up space in the world. Those who work with Brian understand his dedication and doggedness in finding the right actors for any given role, whether commercial or long form.
Brian is also an accomplished producer and director theatrically. Most recently he is partner and co-producer at Radium Productions, and one of the creators of The Radium Radio Hour, a theatrical nightclub experience c1949 featuring live music, novelty acts and a live-to-air performance of dramatic old-time radio shows featuring characters like Sam Spade and The Thin Man. Brian also wrote and directed a new radio serial, The Port Lovely Chronicles for the RRH.
Brian is proud to be on the faculty of Seneca College’s Acting for Film and Television program teaching auditioning for the camera. Brian is a member of The Casting Society of Canada (CDC) and sits on its executive. He is also a member in good standing of The Casting Society of America (CSA) and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
