Marsha Chesley has been a casting director for more than thirty years and has worked in every medium: feature films, movies-of-the-week, dramatic series, sitcoms, corporate videos, and commercials.
Instrumental in creating the Gemini Award for Best Achievement in Casting, Marsha was nominated for the award in its inaugural year for her work on the CBC series This is Wonderland. She then won the award in 2009 for her work on The Line. She was nominated a third time in 2011 for the TMN series Living in Your Car.
Currently the co-chair of the Casting Directors Society of Canada, Marsha is also a member of the George Brown College Theatre Arts Advisory Committee, The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, and Women in Film and Television – Toronto.
Fluent in French, Marsha has also helped in the casting of projects for a number of prominent French-Canadian directors including André Melançon, Robert Ménard, and Robert Lepage.
For three years Marsha was Casting Director-in-Residence at the CANADIAN FILM CENTRE. She teaches workshops and is called upon frequently to give seminars to actors as well as producers, directors, and writers, at all the major theatre schools in Toronto and at SIFT: The Summer Institute of Film and Television in Ottawa. She has also written a best-selling book on auditioning for film and television
