10 THINGS – ADRIAN HOLMES

I watched a lot of television growing up and sat so close to the TV that my Mom would always say, “You’re too close to the TV Adrian, if you get any closer, you’ll be in it!” I think she was definitely on to something.

10 Things about Adrian Holmes

Originally from England with parents from Barbados. What initially got you interested in acting and how did you get your start?

I watched a lot of television growing up and sat so close to the TV that my Mom would always say, “You’re too close to the TV Adrian, if you get any closer, you’ll be in it!” I think she was definitely on to something. Lol! I was a bit of a shy kid growing up, actually, and the theatre became like my saving grace. It gave me a voice and permission to be seen. I was 11 when I did my first play, The Wizard of Oz. I played the Lion, and it was so liberating. From then, I was bitten by the bug and stayed in the theatre, eventually making my way into film and television.

Which actors’ body of work has impressed you and made a positive impact on your career thus far?

Wow! There are so many. Well, it goes without saying, Denzel Washington, of course, is the G.O.A.T!!! Robert Downey Jr. has really made an impression as well. Loved him as Tony Stark. He’s like butter with dialogue, so effortless and truthful. Jason Bateman is very similar. They’re both such a pleasure to watch and have such a gift for both comedy and drama. Very inspiring. Mahershela Ali, Chadwick Boseman, and Idris Elba are also favorites of mine, and actors I can relate to. Like these men, I love to both inspire and be inspired.
