The TELUS Fund is renewing its Special Call for English language Web Series targeted to Canadians caring for loved ones (“caregivers”).
We are looking for stories that engage our emotions and have the potential to change the way we think and feel about providing care. Stories that share knowledge in entertaining ways, build empathy for better health care and social policies, and drive those in need to resources and communities of support.
The TELUS Fund is offering up to $25,000 per successful applicant, towards the creation of a six minute pilot webisode that focuses on caregiving in Canada!
In 2017, TELUS Fund launched the first Special Call For Web Series to surface stories with the potential to positively impact individuals providing care for loved ones. Many filmmakers applied and ten were selected to create pilot episodes. The caregiving community was invited to show support for those pilots and three were developed into full length web series: Caring For Those Who Care, Being There, and House Call With Dr. Yvette Lu.
Between November 2017 and March 2018 these three series were launched to the public through the Stories For Caregivers initiative. Over the course of five months they amassed a staggering 1.2 million views and were featured in mainstream news media across the country. The success of these three series has been instrumental to the renewal of Stories For Caregivers for a second season.
Once again, the TELUS Fund is offering up to $25,000 per successful applicant, towards the creation of a 3 to 6 minute pilot webisode that focuses on caregiving in Canada. The TELUS Fund will then select 2 of the completed pilots to receive up to $140,000 in additional financing towards the production of a full web series based on the pilot!
We are grateful to TELUS Fund for making this unique program possible, and for offering a new 2018 Special Call For Web Series.
