The broadcast network has picked up additional seasons of Burden of Truth and Coroner to air sometime in 2021. The pickups follow their renewals by Canada’s CBC; both are in production on their next seasons.
Additionally, The CW will air a three-episode “special event” of its British import Bulletproof sometime next year.
Burden of Truth, which is going into its fourth season, stars Kristin Kreuk as a big-city lawyer who returns to her small hometown for a case that changes her life forever. Each season of the series tracks a new legal battle; season four will follow Joanna (Kreuk) and her husband and law parter Billy (Peter Mooney) as they take on a mining company. READ MORE
THE CW ACQUIRES ADDITIONAL SEASONS OF CORONER AND BURDEN OF TRUTH
The CW is doubling down on two of its most successful Canadian imports, ordering a third season of Coroner and a fourth season of Burden of Truth, TVLine has learned. Both series were already renewed in Canada, where they are currently in production.
Coroner, whose second season is currently airing on Wednesdays (9/8c), stars Serinda Swan (Inhumans) as a widowed coroner named Jenny Cooper. Here’s a spoiler-heavy tease of what’s to come in Season 3:[Season 3] returns with coroner Jenny Cooper moving past her trauma and embracing her whole self. In the process of healing, she and live-in boyfriend Liam are now separated, while Detective Donovan McAvoy faces his mortality in a new way. ‘CORONER’, ‘BURDEN OF TRUTH’ RENEWED BY THE CW; ‘BULLETPROOF’ SPECIAL SET
The CW has acquired additional seasons of Canadian drama series Coroner and Burden of Truth, along with a three-episode Bulletproof special event. Coroner and Burden of Truth were previously renewed in Canada for their third and fourth seasons, respectively, and are currently in production on the new seasons. The Bulletproof three-episode special event, labeled by producers as the series’ third season, was filmed earlier this year and will air in the UK in 2021. The CW premiere dates will be announced at a later time.
Burden Of Truth follows Joanna Chang (Kristin Kreuk), a ruthless, big-city lawyer who returns to her small hometown in Millwood for a case that will change her life forever. Each season centers around a new life-altering legal case – the vulnerable plaintiffs searching for answers and the boots-on-the-ground lawyers fighting incredible odds to deliver justice.
