“A DAY IN THE LIFE” WITH TORONTO ACTOR CHASE TANG
Chase Tang was born & raised in Taipei, Taiwan. His family of 5 ……. mom, dad & 2 older brothers immigrated to Bedford, Nova Scotia in 1994. Over the next 12 years his life was everything hockey until 2006 he decided to move on with the next chapter of his life & relocate to Ontario & there he enrolled in the Marketing Management program at the University of Guelph.
Prior to acting, Chase was a successful corporate executive & thus did not have any formal training in theatre or performing arts of any sort. He took his first ever acting class in May 2016. Over the next 36 months from 2016 – 2019 he was in acting classes 3-4 times per week & also doing private coaching to improve his acting abilities. He struggle for a very long time to secure representation in Toronto & finally caught a break & booked his first role & joined Actra in August 2018. READ MORE

We all have that dream we think is too far out of reach to even strive for, but a Canadian man from Halifax is proving to us that any dream is attainable. After quitting his job in the corporate world to take an acting class, Chase Tang is about to have all of his wildest dreams come true. Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy just finished off their casting by adding Canadian Chase Tang alongside Josh Duhamel.
Netflix has been on a superhero high recently with Raising Dion coming out this month, but this time we’re adding a Canadian to the mix. Tang talked to CBC about how he got into acting because he was curious, “I wasn’t really happy where I was at and I was just thinking: “You know, this is just something I’m curious about so if I don’t try it now, then when?” He also says that this role feels “surreal” especially because it hasn’t been very long since he began acting. Lots of ice cream and chips, spending more time with my fiancé and video calls with the family.

INTERVIEW WITH FAST-RISING ASIAN CANADIAN ACTOR AND HOLLYWOOD STAR CHASE TANG
Former corporate executive, a childhood AAA hockey player Chase Tang is now a part of the new wave of diversity in Hollywood.
The actor portrays as Baryon for Netflix’s Mark Millar superhero drama Jupiter’s Legacy, alongside some big names in the industry such as Josh Duhamel, Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, and Jamie Slater. Set to be released in 2021, the show centers on the world’s first generation of superheroes, whose superpowered children are unable to live up to their parents’ legacies.
Baryon, a character created specifically for the Netflix adaptation of Jupiter’s Legacy, is the lead Villain on the first season of the show. For Tang, portraying as the supervillain isn’t just about flexing his supervillain muscles, but it is about defying racial stereotype, growth and opportunities. READ MORE
JUPITER’S LEGACY’S VILLAINOUS STAR CHASE TANG WANTS TO BREAK DOWN BARRIERS
Breaking into Hollywood is a difficult task for a young actor, but sometimes all it takes is one chance. And now that actor Chase Tang is getting his first major shot as a super villain in the Netflix series Jupiter’s Legacy, he’s finally got his foot in the door. Tang will be playing the new character Baryon in the series based on Frank Quietly and Mark Millar’s new comic book, and he’s hopeful that his role on the show will help open doors of opportunity across all walks of life.
Much like Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings star Simu Liu, Tang is a Toronto-based actor and even had a small role on Liu’s hit series Kim’s Convenience. But as Liu joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a superhero and Tang makes his descent into villainy, he thinks they could inspire many more people as their exposure increases. READ MORE
MEET CHASE TANG, NETFLIX’S LATEST SUPERVILLAIN IN JUPITER’S LEGACY
For every superhero out there, there’s also a supervillain. And it looks like the Asian community will finally be getting one of our own.
Nova Scotian actor Chase Tang is set to play Baryon, a supervillain on the upcoming Netflix show Jupiter’s Legacy. With this being Tang’s biggest role yet, Cold Tea Collective got in touch with the rising star to hear more about his journey in the entertainment industry.
After leaving the corporate world and pivoting to acting in 2016, Tang is grateful to have joined the industry at a time when Hollywood has become a bit more accepting of Asian faces in entertainment. “When I got more familiar with acting and got myself settled, Crazy Rich Asians had already come out and it was well-received,” says Tang. “Audiences were starting to see more Asian people in more prominent roles. I personally didn’t face the same hardships that I think other people did. To say I did, I don’t think would be fair.” READ MORE

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Chase Tang’s family immigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada where he grew up playing hockey. He is the youngest of 3 boys, his mother was a stay at home mom & his father an entrepreneur. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Guelph in Ontario. Chase was a successful corporate executive before deciding to leave it behind so he can follow his passion for the movie industry.
1. WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY TO BECOMING AN ACTOR? WHERE DID IT BEGIN?
I had worked in the corporate world for 8 years prior to acting, I have an honors bachelors of commerce degree in Marketing Management from the University of Guelph. I left the Corporate world in early 2016 & took my first ever acting class May 2016.
2. WHAT PROJECT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?
Netflix for sure! Portraying a Supervillian in Jupiter’s Legacy because it was the first major role I’ve had the greatest opportunity to bring to life that gave me a break in this industry. READ MORE
