MUST-WATCH TITLES FOR NOVEMBER

November 4 – HBO’s HIS DARK MATERIALS *Series Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)

  • Adapting Philip Pullman’s award-winning trilogy of the same name, considered by many to be a modern masterpiece of imaginative fiction, HIS DARK MATERIALS follows Lyra (Dafne Keen, Logan), a seemingly ordinary but brave young woman from another world. Her search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. Other series regulars include: Ruth Wilson (THE AFFAIR) as Mrs. Coulter, Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) as Lee Scoresby, James McAvoy (Atonement) as Lord Asriel, Clarke Peters (THE WIRE) as The Master of Jordan College, James Cosmo as Farder Coram, Anne-Marie Duff as Ma Costa, Will Keen as Father MacPhail, and Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal.

November 10 – SHAMELESS *Season 10 Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)

  • The smash-hit comedy returns for Season 10, available exclusively to Crave + HBO + Movies subscribers. Picking up six months after last season’s finale, Frank (William H. Macy, Fargo) uses his leg injury to collect as many prescription drugs as possible and his exploits lead him to an old friend. Debbie (Emma Kenney, THE CONNORS), emboldened by the $50,000 left to her by Fiona, has stepped in as the new matriarch, ruling over the Gallagher household with an iron fist. Lip (Jeremy Allen White, HOMECOMING) navigates his relationship with a newly affectionate Tami (Kate Miner, The Campaign). Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) has to decide what to do with his life as he finishes military school and heads back to the South side. Liam (Christian Isaiah) is committed to learning more about black history and culture under the tutelage of V (Shanola Hampton) as Kev (Steve Howey) faces an identity crisis. Gallavich returns this season as Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey (Noel Fisher, CASTLE ROCK) rekindle their romance in prison as both cellmates and lovers.

November 10 – STARZ’s DUBLIN MURDERS *Series Premiere*

  • Adapted from Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad series of novels, the UK premiere of DUBLIN MURDERS was recently hailed as “the coolest psychological thriller on TV” by Refinery29, and “a breathless whodunit” by The Guardian. Set during the height of Ireland’s “Celtic Tiger” financial boom, the psychological thriller focuses on two murder investigations led by ambitious and charismatic detectives Rob Reilly (Killian Scott, C.B. STRIKE) and Cassie Maddox (Sarah Greene, PENNY DREADFUL). The victims are seemingly unrelated, but they are knitted together by powerful shared themes: the macabre “red in tooth and claw” elements of both stories and their heart-thumping psychological thriller qualities. Additional cast members include Conleth Hill (GAME OF THRONES) and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR).

November 15 – DOLLFACE *Premiere* (10 Episodes)

  • All 10 episodes of the new comedy, executive produced by Margot Robbie, drop in Canada exclusively on Crave. DOLLFACE follows Jules (Kat Dennings, 2 BROKE GIRLS), a young woman on a quest to reclaim her life following a surprise breakup with her long-term boyfriend. In order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women, Jules must deal with her own imagination to rekindle the female friendships she left behind. Shay Mitchell (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS), Esther Povitsky (LOVE), and Brenda Song (The Social Network) co-star as friends of Jules, who she neglected during her relationship with her ex-boyfriend.

November 17 – SHOWTIME’s RAY DONOVAN *Season 7 Premiere* (8 p.m. ET)

  • Liev Schreiber returns in his three-time Emmy®-nominated and five-time Golden Globe®-nominated role for Season 7 of RAY DONOVAN. Ray is working to be the man his family needs him to be, but while he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (Alan Alda, M*A*S*H, Bridge of Spies), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old. Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Zach Grenier, DEADWOOD, THE GOOD WIFE), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth, and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself. And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past (Jon Voight, 24) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions. Meanwhile, Bunchy (Dash Mihok, A Million Little Pieces), hoping for a fresh start, bunks in Ray’s apartment and works stocking shelves at a pharmacy, and Terry (Eddie Marsan, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) is offered an unconventional healing opportunity.

November 29 – DARK SIDE OF THE RING, Season 1 Premiere *Crave Original * (Six Episodes)

  • Following its critically-acclaimed run in the US this spring, the docuseries premieres in Canada this month, with all six-episodes dropping at once. Produced by VICE Canada, DARK SIDE OF THE RING has a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and explores the darkest stories from the golden age of professional wrestling, from backstage controversies to mysterious deaths and unsolved homicides. Narrated by Dutch Mantell, a leading authority on the sport and a retired manager, booker, and wrestler with over 40 years in the game, each episode centres on a professional wrestling icon. Stories covered in Season 1 include: the tragic love story of Randy “Macho Man” Savage and Miss Elizabeth, the infamous “Montreal Screwjob” which stripped Bret Hart of his title, the locker room altercation that led to the death of Bruiser Brody, as well as the dark history of the Von Erich wrestling dynasty, the controversial death of “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez, and a look at the intense allegations against legendary female star The Fabulous Moolah. As previously announced, Crave and VICE have commissioned a second season of the popular series.

HIGHLIGHTS

November 4 – RAT PARK *Crave Original Documentary Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)

  • Could the secret to solving the world’s drug crisis lie in a forgotten Canadian psychology experiment from the 1970s involving rats and heroin? Almost four decades later, this documentary shows how the experiment’s radical findings might be applied today and examines the impact of drug policy, both the criminalization and legalization, on the world’s war on drugs. Directed by Shawney Cohen and produced in association with Vice Studios, the film follows three stories worlds apart, examining the complex issues of drug laws and addiction and why the problem may not be the drugs themselves, but the environments and “cages” we live in. In Portugal, where drugs are legalized, a ceramics artist lives and struggles with a lifelong heroin problem. On the other side of the world in the Philippines, where drugs are criminalized, a grieving woman and a hardened photojournalist grapple with government sanctioned extrajudicial killings of drug users. In America, an outlaw recovery worker fights for drug users living in ground zero of America’s opioid crisis.

November 10 – SHOWTIME’S BACK TO LIFE *Premiere* (Six Episodes)

  • From FLEABAG producers Harry and Jack Williams and Daisy Haggard (EPISODES), BACK TO LIFE follows Miri Matteson (Haggard) who, after 18 years behind bars, returns home and stumbles back into adult life in the coastal town she once knew, while the mystery of her past looms large. Miri attempts to rekindle old relationships, make new ones, look for work, and readjust to life outside, while desperately waiting for the world to forget about what happened that fateful night. Guiding Miri as she tries to adapt are a cast of offbeat and intriguing characters with secrets of their own, including her sexually-frustrated mother Caroline (Geraldine James, Sherlock Holmes), her obsessive environmentalist father Oscar (Richard Durden, From Paris with Love), and her parole officer with no filter Janice (Jo Martin, Batman Begins). The series also features Miri’s first love Dom (Jamie Michie), ex-best friend Mandy (Christine Bottomley, FEARLESS), next-door neighbor Billy (Adeel Akhtar, The Big Sick), and fish and chips shop owner and new boss Nathan (Liam Williams).

November 11 – THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD *Documentary Premiere*

  • In commemoration of Remembrance Day, Crave presents Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson’s documentary THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD. This ground-breaking film applies state-of-the-art restoration, colorization, and 3D technologies to century-old footage chosen from hundreds of hours of original Great War film, creating an immersive and authentic portrayal of life on the front. The only narration comes from Great War veterans themselves, selected from over 600 hours of archive interviews, resulting in a gripping account of “The War to End All Wars,” told by the soldiers who experienced it. By restoring the original footage to a standard never seen before, the film captures the day-to-day experience of the soldiers and reveals the reality of war for those on the front line.

November 23 – US *Movie Premiere*

  • After setting a new standard for provocative, socially-conscious horror films with his directorial debut, Get Out, Academy Award-winning writer, director, and producer Jordan Peele returns with US. Set in present day along the Northern California coastline, Oscar®-winner Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) stars as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband Gabe (Winston Duke, Black Panther) and their two children for an idyllic summer getaway. Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past, and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family.

November 28 – DAVID FOSTER: OFF THE RECORD *Bell Media Original Documentary Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)

  • Following its world premiere at TIFF 2019, the Bell Media Original documentary delivers a behind-the-scenes look at the 16-time Grammy Award-winning producer, composer, and entertainer. Directed by Barry Avrich and executive produced by Randy Lennox, Barry Avrich, Jeffery Latimer, and Marc Johnston, the film blends rare archival footage, interviews, and unprecedented access to Foster himself for an up close and personal look at Foster’s career. Powerful and sometimes humorous, the film follows Foster’s relentless ambition, hunger, and rise to the top, as he becomes an iconic producer and songwriter, working with the likes of Chicago and Celine Dion at the beginning of his career, and later with Barbra Streisand, Michael Bublé, and Andrea Bocelli, just to name a few. Viewers also receive an inside look at the next chapter in his career – a first for Foster – Broadway, and a look into his personal life, which has occasionally become front-page news. The film features interviews with friends, family, and fellow musicians, including: Barbra Streisand, Lionel Richie, Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Quincy Jones, Clive Davis, Josh Groban, Katharine McPhee, Kristin Chenoweth, Peter Cetera, Chicago, daughters Erin and Sara Foster, Diane Warren, Carole Bayer Sager, and more.
