CTV GETS INTO “THE FIX” AND “THE ENEMY WITHIN” AS PART OF 2019 MIDSEASON LINEUP

New series join CTV's previously announced midseason schedule featuring WHISKEY CAVALIER, WORLD OF DANCE, THE VILLAGE, CARDINAL, and more

TORONTO – CTV announced today a second wave of winter premieres, bolstering the network’s midseason lineup of heavy-hitting debuts, returning favourites, and big-ticket special events. Joining the winter schedule is the new, fast-paced spy-hunting thriller THE ENEMY WITHIN (March 3); the much-anticipated 10-episode television event from executive producer Marcia ClarkTHE FIX (March 18), two-hour special THANK YOU CANADA (Feb. 10), and the new six-episode eponymous comedy JANN (March 20).

Along with new seasons of returning favourites THE VOICE (Feb. 25), WORLD OF DANCE (March 3), AMERICAN IDOL (March 3), STATION 19 (March 7), and FOR THE PEOPLE (March 7), these hot new winter programs join previously announced new series WHISKEY CAVALIER and THE VILLAGE, along with CTV Originals THE LAUNCH and CARDINAL.

CTV also announced today the expansion of its original international format series THE LAUNCH, adding a bonus seventh episode to round out the series’ sophomore season. From Bell Media Studios, the final episode of Season 2 unites all six launched artists and joins them as their lives completely change after they are chosen to record and release a new, original song. Episode 7 of THE LAUNCH airs Wednesday, March 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.

Rounding out CTV’s 2019 midseason lineup are the soon-to-be-announced premieres of delectable new original series MARY’S KITCHEN CRUSH and the return of ratings hit MASTERCHEF CANADA.

New Series:

THE ENEMY WITHIN

(Streaming Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, CTV.ca and the CTV app, beginning March 3)

  • Erica Shepherd (Jennifer Carpenter, DEXTER) is a brilliant former CIA operative now known as the most notorious traitor in American history, serving life in a supermax prison. Against every fibre of his being but with nowhere else to turn, FBI Agent Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut, ROSEWOOD) enlists Shepherd to help track down a fiercely dangerous and elusive criminal she knows all too well. For Keaton, it’s not easy to trust the woman who cost him so much. While Shepherd and Keaton have different motivations for bringing the enemy to justice, they both know that to catch a spy… they must think like one.
  • THE ENEMY WITHIN also stars Raza Jaffrey (CODE BLACK), Kelli Garner (PAN AM), Cassandra Freeman (Inside Man), and Toronto-born Noah Mills (THE BRAVE).

  • Starring Robin Tunney (THE MENTALIST), Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje (LOST), and Scott Cohen (THE AMERICANS), THE FIX follows Maya Travis (Tunney), an L.A. district attorney who suffers a devastating defeat after prosecuting an A-list movie star for double murder. With her high-profile career derailed, she flees for a quieter life in rural Washington. Eight years later, when this same star is under suspicion for another murder, Maya is lured back to the DA’s office for another chance at justice.

  • The four-time Emmy ® Award-winning THE VOICE returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season.
  • John Legend joins veteran coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton for Season 16, and Carson Daly returns as host.

AMERICAN IDOL

  • A new journey begins as America’s iconic singing competition series returns for a new season on CTV2. Returning to help discover the next singing sensation are music industry legends and all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

  • The GREY’S ANATOMY spinoff follows a group of heroic firefighters at Seattle Fire Station 19 – from captain to newest recruit – risking their lives and hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock.
  • Season 2 picks up from the fall finale’s literal cliffhanger with Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz, Girls Trip) and Captain Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe, HOUSE OF CARDS) hanging off a cliff after their ambulance went off the road.

FOR THE PEOPLE

(Streaming Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV2, CTV.ca, and the CTV app, beginning March 7)

  • Set in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Shondaland series follows six talented young lawyers on opposite sides of the law, handling the most high-profile and high-stakes federal cases in the country.
  • Season 2 stars Britt Robertson (GIRLBOSS) as Sandra Bell alongside Jasmin Savoy Brown (THE LEFTOVERS) as Allison Adams. Charles Michael Davis (THE ORIGINALS) joins the cast this season as a new series regular.

New Specials:

THANK YOU CANADA

(Streaming Sunday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, CTV.ca and the CTV app)

  • Featuring some of the biggest household names in the history of figure skating, the two-hour special is anchored by five-time Olympic medallists, three-time world champions, and eight-time national champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who also perform in the special.
