Singers Diana Ross and Norah Jones are the big names announced Tuesday to head the bill of this year’s TD Toronto Jazz Festival, running June 21-30.

Also in the lineup are 88-year-old Cuban singer and Buena Vista Social Club veteran Omara Portuondo, 50-year horn-band institution Tower of Power, and vocalists Cécile McLorin Salvant and Emilie-Claire Barlow. Jones and Ross will be at the Sony Centre, with others bound for the Danforth Music Hall or Koerner Hall — but a rock venue will play host one night: The Horseshoe Tavern will host a special double bill of local electric bassist Rich Brown’s Rinsethealgorithm and a new project called Ghost-Note — Snarky Puppy’s percussion duo Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth and Prince bassist MonoNeon in what’s touted as a boundary-busting mixture of James Brown, hip hop legend J Dilla, the Beastie Boys and Brazilian samba grooves.
