DID SIGOURNEY WEAVER JUST REVEAL HER RETURN TO ‘GHOSTBUSTERS’ SEQUEL?

While details about the new Ghostbusters film being shot by Jason Reitman this summer in and around Calgary are being kept very quiet, actress Sigourney Weaver apparently just let the cat out of the bag in an interview with Parade.com: She will be in the 2020 film alongside her former co-stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.

Representatives from Sony Pictures have confirmed that Ghostbusters 3 will be shot in the Calgary area beginning in July but have offered few other details. A Vanity Fair article recently reported that actress Carrie Coon, who starred in the third season of Fargo, and Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard are rumoured to be in the cast as well.

In the interview with Parade, Weaver confirmed she would be reprising her role as Dana Barrett and would be joining both Murray and Aykroyd.

“It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!” she reportedly said.

The new Ghostbusters will be the next chapter in the original story and will not be connected to Paul Feig’s 2016 all-female reboot. Jason Reitman is director Ivan Reitman’s son, who directed both the 1984 original Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel.

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a six-year-old visiting the set,” the younger Reitman told Entertainment Weekly. “I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans.”

Reps from Sony did not immediately get back to Postmedia about the casting news.
