Fans worldwide voted for their top choice to win this year’s coveted title of Most Hype Worthy Canadian at the E! PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS and the results are almost in! The category, which recognizes one Canadian entertainer for their talents contributing to pop-culture, is set to be revealed during the E! PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS which airs live on Sunday, November 10 at 9 p.m. ET on E!.

Last year, Canadian Olympians and first-ever recipients of the Most Hype Worthy Canadian award Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir were surprised with the news on THE SOCIAL. Check out what makes this year’s Canadian nominees deserving of all the hype:

Brooke Lynn Hytes

Hytes has slayed this year! Breaking borders, she was featured on the cover of New York Magazine in June along with 36 alumnus of RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE. She is an LGBTQ+ icon in Canada, posing with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with caption “King and Queen of the North”, and in September she was announced as a full-time judge for Crave original series CANADA’S DRAG RACE.

Celine Dion

Celine Dion has earned icon status as declared by Harper’s Bazaar, appearing on the cover of its limited-edition September issue. The Canadian singer/superstar and style icon also sparkled this year during her first world tour in over a decade, the Courage World Tour which kicked off on September 18, 2019. On the same day Dion released three new songs for her upcoming album, “Courage” ( available on November 15).

Cobie Smulders

The former HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER star now leads CTV’s latest hit series STUMPTOWN, portraying Dex Parios a strong, assertive, and sharp-witted Army veteran. A review from IndieWire claims the series to be “one of the best shows of the season” and much of the show’s accolades can be attributed to Smulder’s performance as “one of the most fearless female characters”, says Variety.

Keanu Reeves

USA Today dubbed 2019 “The Summer of Keanu Reeves” for the sheer amount of meme-worthy appearances the actor made in feature films and high profile roles including famed assassin John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, a hilariously obnoxious version of himself in  Always Be My Maybe, and his character Duke Caboom in Toy Story, who stole the show as a horseshoe-mustached daredevil from Canada.

October’s Very Own, Drake surprised fans when he received his fourth GRAMMY® Award in person for Best Rap Song, “God’s Plan” at the 61ST ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARDS. Drake also displayed his patriotism to his city and to the NBA Champions, the Toronto Raptors by dropping a two-song celebratory “Best in the World Pack” to commemorate the NBA win.

Nav Bhatia

Loyal Toronto Raptor’s superfan and community activist Nav Bhatia hasn’t missed a Raps game in 24 years. Bhatia serves as a positive example in the community, combating racism with kindness. In May, he received a racist remark via social media and responded by inviting the person to dinner in the spirit of friendship.

Shawn Mendes

Canadian heartthrob, Shawn Mendes has pumped out some radio favourites this year including a hot and heavy collaboration with girlfriend Camila Cabello, “Señorita”, and hit single, “If I Can’t Have You”. Mendes also collaborated with Tim Hortons in an extremely Canadian campaign involving limited-edition cups where a portion of all proceeds went towards The Shawn Mendes Foundation. The Tim Hortons collab came at a special time for the singer, as Mendes was just about to play his first ever sold-out stadium show in Toronto.

Sandra Oh

Sandra Oh never ceases to amaze. Emmy®-nominated actress and star of CTV Drama Channel’s KILLING EVE was named Time Magazine’s Top 100 most influential people of 2019. She also recently partnered with Air Canada for “Travel Like a Canadian” campaign to promote kindness when travelling.

THE 2019 E! PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS begins with LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET on E!.
