Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated actor who has starred in Juno and The Umbrella Academy, has announced he is transgender.

Page, formerly known as Ellen Page, shared the news on social media, expressing “overwhelming gratitude” for those who have supported him.

“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. CANADIAN ACTOR ELLIOT PAGE SHARES HE IS TRANSGENDER
The Oscar-nominated Juno actor posted a letter on social media Tuesday

Elliot Page, Halifax’s own Hollywood star, has shared that he is transgender.

The actor, formerly known as Ellen Page, is known for his Oscar-nominated role in Juno, as well as Inception and most recently The Umbrella Academy.

He addressed his social media followers on Tuesday with a lengthy post, in which he shared he is trans, and that he prefers to use the pronouns he or they.

“I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey,” Page wrote. READ MORE

On Tuesday, the Oscar-nominated star of movies like “Juno” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” shared with fans that they are transgender and identify as non-binary, a term used to describe a person whose gender identity is neither man nor woman.

“I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life,” the actor, who was formerly known publicly as Ellen Page, wrote on Instagram. “I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”

Page said their pronouns are “he” and “they.”

The Halifax-born actor who’s come to be known for his work in Juno, Inception, Umbrella Academy and more came out as trans and non-binary today and announced to the world that his name is Elliot Page.

The actor posted a heartfelt statement on Twitter and Instagram Tuesday afternoon after changing his name on all of his social media profiles.
