HAMILTON’S KIERA LAIDMAN TAKES HOME A JOEY AWARD
FOR BEST LEADING ACTRESS
IN A STUDENT OR YOUTH MADE SHORT FILM 11-13 YEARS OLD!
Hamilton’s Kiera Laidman took home the Joey Award for BEST LEADING ACTRESS IN A STUDENT OR YOUTH MADE SHORT FILM 11-13 YRS. OLD, this past weekend in Richmond, BC.
She was nominated for four awards – Best Leading Actress in Student or Youth Made Short Film 11-13 yrs. old, Best Actress in a Commercial 11 yrs. Old, Best Supporting or Principal Actress in Short film 10-12 yrs., and Best Featured Actress in a Commercial 11 yrs. old.
Kiera won the award for her role in Un Piece, a short film about a brother and a sister who discover an old French film and try to re-create it in their living-room, for their single mother, despite not knowing about French culture. Un Piece was directed and written by Kennedy Salloum and produced by Suzy Queen.
Kiera Laidman has appeared in commercials such as Indigo, OHIP and multiple short films such as Kavod, Open Source 2.0 and her upcoming project, a VR 360 film called Lily’s Day.
Kiera has been acting since she was 8 years old and has trained with some of the top coaches in Toronto.
This was Kiera’s first time at the Joey’s. She was thrilled and happy to be honoured with this award.
