Hot Docs regrets to announce that due to ever-increasing health and safety concerns around the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have cancelled all upcoming screenings and events at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema and will close our doors as of end of day on March 15. We hope to reopen by April 10 and will be monitoring developments to determine if this is possible.
The health and safety of our audiences, staff and volunteers are of primary importance to us. Like you, we have been closely monitoring the situation for many weeks. Following recommendations and guidance from public health authorities, we took many precautionary steps in the hopes that it would allow us to continue to safely serve our audiences in this uncertain time.
However, it is now clear that, like many other cultural destinations, we must make this unprecedented decision to suspend our operations to help curtail the spread of this terrible pandemic.
Earlier this week, the Hot Docs Cinema celebrated its eight-year anniversary. Over that time, we have worked together to create a community of curious people by inspiring action, conversation and, above all, connection. This closure is temporary. When we reopen our doors, we will continue Hot Docs’ longstanding commitment to showcase outspoken and outstanding films, host transformational events, and strengthen this community we all love and cherish.
We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
