? HOW ‘JOHN WICK 3’ SCALES BACK WHILE PUSHING FORWARD

Yeah, we're thinking he's back. Thursday morning, Lionsgate released the trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the subtitle deriving from the Latin phrase "Si vis pacem, para bellum," meaning, "If you want peace, prepare for war." And it's war we shall have.

Yeah, we’re thinking he’s back. Thursday morning, Lionsgate released the trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the subtitle deriving from the Latin phrase “Si vis pacem, para bellum,” meaning, “If you want peace, prepare for war.” And it’s war we shall have. The action film sees Keanu Reeves’ titular John Wick on the run for his life after a $14 million bounty is placed on his head following his assassination of a member of the High Table in 2017’s John Wick: Chapter 2.If the buzz from fans on social media is any indication, the third John Wick entry is among the year’s most hotly anticipated genre films. The trailer certainly provides enough evidence as to why, set to Andy Williams’ “The Impossible Dream (The Quest).” The slick, neon-lit actioner, directed by Chad Stahelski, looks to be pulling out all the stops: dog packs, horses, sword-carrying motorcyclists and Halle Berry, serving as a reminder that for all the bloodshed we’ve seen, we really haven’t seen anything yet. Throughout cinema across the world, we’ve come across plenty of men with guns seeking revenge or running for their lives. But we’ve never encountered anything like John Wick.  READ MORE – THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

Halle Berry’s fellow assassin looks handy with a gun, too.

ONE BIG QUESTION WE REALLY HOPE JOHN WICK 3 ANSWERS
John Wick is in quite the pickle at the beginning of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. For killing Santino D’Antonio on Continental grounds, John was declared excommunicado at the end of John Wick: Chapter 2, resulting in all his underworld resources being stripped away. Even worse, the bounty already on John’s head was doubled to $14 million, and he was given only a one hour head start by his old friend, Winston. As the first John Wick: Chapter 3 trailer laid out, John will go through hell just trying to get out of New York City alive, but looking at the bigger picture, I’m wondering if this movie will see the destruction of the High Table. FIRST TRAILER FOR KEANU REEVES’ ‘JOHN WICK 3’ GOES TO THE DOGS
The musical choices are cute and the thing looks stylish as all hell, so this is pretty much what you’d expect from a teaser trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3. It is… odd how this franchise has been so closely associated with dogs. It’s not like Wick is some hardcore animal rescuer or what-have-you, it’s just that his late wife gave him a puppy and, like the day after her funeral, random gangsters broke into his house and killed that dog. Had the inciting incident for John Wick been the brutal murder of a wife, girlfriend or daughter, it would have been par for the course. We’re so used to macho action movies that fridge their female characters as a key plot point that merely fridging an animal becomes a defining feature of that franchise. READ MORE – FORBES

John Wick 2 ends with the titular hitman becoming “excommunicado” from the Continental Hotel, the underworld plug that operated as a neutral safety zone for assassins of Wick’s ilk. Now that he’s been kicked out, it’s open season on Wick (played by Keanu Reeves)—and he’s feeling the pressure. In the high-octane trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Wick (and his trusty dog) are on the run, trying to escape the $14 million bounty on his head. READ MORE – VANITY FAIR
