    YOUR ROLE
    You perform a variety of duties associated with the preparation and on-air presentation of program content for the weekend Téléjournal newscast (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). As host, you are an experienced journalist who will be involved in the development and execution of the program. Your work is subject to Corporation programming and/or journalistic policies, but creativity, initiative and independent judgment are also required. You also regularly coordinate the work of other team members.

    ACTIVITIES:
    • Contribute to the planning, design and organization of programs that the program is typically highly structured; ensure that content is prepared for broadcast.
    • Assume production responsibility for a program or segments of a program.
    • Propose program ideas, suggest and line up guests or interviews, prepare background notes and questions, conduct live and pre-recorded interviews, and provide narration and continuity between program segments.
    • Read newscasts and news bulletins.
    • Offer digital support to Radio-Canada web page by providing video and audio clips.
    • Quickly post content on the various platforms, including through social media and content management systems.
    • Liaise with reporters and other contributors when producing live reports.
    • Under the supervision of the Director, collaborate with the weekly Host-Producer to lead a strategic gradual evolution of the newscast.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    You possess the following:
    • University degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
    • Five years of comparable TV hosting experience or relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge of the broadcasting industry and an understanding and awareness of issues and events particular to the Ontario region and Franco-Ontarian.
    • In-depth knowledge of regional, national and international affairs.
    • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic policies.
    • Leadership skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent general knowledge.
    • Excellent editorial judgment.
    • Ability to generate creative production ideas.
    • Ability to work within a team.
    • Ability to establish and maintain a network of professional contacts.
    • Ability to work independently and get organized quickly.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
    • Keen interest in other broadcast platforms such as web and radio.
    • Digital know-how and well versed in the use of various tools and social media platforms.
    • Willingness to work varying shifts and overtime.
