Letterkenny is as Canadian as it gets

CraveTV's small-town comedy Letterkenny is made in Canada for Canadians who love to laugh at themselves — and creator Jared Keeso wouldn’t want it any other way.

It doesn’t get more Canadian than this: six of the actors who co-star in CraveTV’s Letterkenny met star Jared Keeso in a beer hockey league.

“I’m kind of living the dream there; I get to make a TV show and cast all my buddies,” said Keeso in a phone interview, calling that “impossibly Canadian.”

The irreverent comedy about people living in the small town of Letterkenny, a stand-in for Keeso’s hometown of Listowel, Ont., returns to Crave with six new episodes on Christmas Day.

“What we do on Letterkenny is we just take the portrait of small-town life and exaggerate and embellish the s— out of it,” Keeso said.

The series has been a hit for the Bell Media-owned streaming service, becoming its most watched title since it debuted in February.

The good news for fans is that a third season of 12 half-hour episodes is already in the works with the option to produce another six this year.
