TORONTO – From Prime Minister Trudeau’s black/brown face scandal to Andrew Scheer’s insurance broker controversy, there’s been no shortage of opportunity for mockery during this year’s federal election. So before election fatigue sets in, CTV’s MADE®-in-Canada original series THE BEAVERTON sends up all the seriousness in THE BEAVERTON MOCKS THE VOTE, a new one-hour special airing Friday Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV, just days before Canadians head to the polls.
THE BEAVERTON is constantly on the pulse of political news and controversial headlines, finding humour in everything from climate change to Canadian political parties winning over Indigenous voters, to U.S. President Trump’s “performance” at the G7 earlier this year.
Now, in THE BEAVERTON MOCKS THE VOTE, co-anchors Emma Hunter and Miguel Rivas take on the campaign trail’s top stories with the same unapologetic wit and wordplay from its popular online incarnation TheBeaverton.com, including helping voters decide amongst a pool of seemingly uninspiring options with a “Hold Your Nose and Vote Guide”.
Season 3 of THE BEAVERTON is available across all CTV digital platforms and Seasons 1 – 3 are currently streaming on Crave.
THE BEAVERTON is the brainchild of co-creators Luke Gordon Field and Jeff Detsky (CALL ME FITZ, SEED) of TheBeaverton.com, as well as website senior editors Jacob Duarte Spiel and Alexander Saxton. Henry Sarwer-Foner (THE RICK MERCER REPORT) returns as Director, and Pier 21 Film’s Laszlo Barna and Melissa Williamson serve as Executive Producers. Nicole Butler serves as Producer.
Fueled by the no-holds-barred wit of a writing room led by series co-creators and showrunners Jeff Detsky and Luke Gordon Field, THE BEAVERTON continues to hit above, below, and to the right and left of the belt, casting a Canadian lens on global issues with timely and topical viral-ready segments. Co-anchors Emma Hunter and Miguel Rivas joined writing room in Season 3, along with returning scribes Jocelyn Geddie (GO AWAY, UNICORN!), Michael Balazo (SCHITT’S CREEK), Scott Montgomery (THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES), and Nelu Handa (JANN). WalkingEagleNews.com’s Tim Fontaine joined THE BEAVERTON as both writer and correspondent this season.
THE BEAVERTON is produced by Pier 21 Films in association with Bell Media, with the participation of Canadian Media Fund, and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit. Sarah Fowlie is Director, Original Production, Comedy, Bell Media. Production executive for Bell Media is Chris Kelley. Pat DiVittorio is Vice-President, Programming, CTV and Specialty.
