‘THE BOYS’ SEASON 2: CAST AND SHOWRUNNER ERIK KRIPKE TEASE RELEASE TIMELINE & PROMISE MORE GORE
I think we can all agree we’re living in the golden age of television. Almost every day someone is probably telling you about a cool show you need to watch and you’re constantly debating what to binge next.
I’m about to add to your list.
Now streaming on Amazon Prime is one of the best new shows I’ve seen this year: The Boys. Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series takes place in a world just like ours except superheroes are real. READ MORE
THE BOYS IS A GREAT SHOW AT THE WORST TIME
The Boys, Amazon Prime’s latest exclusive series, takes place in a world where superheroes are real, and they are managed — or maybe controlled is a better word — by a corporation called Vought.
Sometimes things get a little out of hand, and an innocent is reduced to a fine, bloody mist when a super-fast hero slams into them on the way to doing … something, but that’s what Vought is there for. A $45,000 check and a non-disclosure agreement can make it all go away, and everyone wins. Anyone who says you can’t put a price on a human life hasn’t been paying attention to any of human history, after all. There are no new ideas here. READ MORE
THE BOYS IS ALREADY ONE OF AMAZON’S MOST-WATCHED SHOWS
In addition to receiving great reviews from critics and Amazon Prime users alike, The Boys has officially been declared one Amazon’s most binged shows of 2019, not to mention one of the platform’s most-watched series of all time.
In a release, Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke described the studio’s excitement regarding the show’s popularity, saying, “We are thrilled that The Boys has surpassed our predictions for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most watched Amazon Original series by our Prime Video customers.” READ MORE
THE BOYS WAS REPORTEDLY A BIG HIT FOR AMAZON PRIME
Amazon Prime has revealed that the Seth Rogen superhero adaptation The Boys is already one of its most-watched shows ever.
Who said anything about superhero fatigue?
Amazon Prime has reported that its Garth Ennis superhero adaptation from producer Seth Rogen, The Boys, is already among its most watched original series ever. And that’s only after two weeks.
“I’m so beyond thrilled with the response to Season 1. And mainly, it’s made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on Season 2,” executive producer Eric Kripke said. “I don’t want Season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season. It’s my one and only goal to make Season 2 even better than Season 1.” READ MORE
ERIN MORIARTY ON STARLIGHT’S HEARTBREAKING ‘THE BOYS’ SCENE AND THE WEIGHT IT CARRIES
Starlight is a superhero, sure. But it’s the fight against systemic abuse of power that makes her truly heroic in Amazon’s new series.
In the pilot episode of Amazon’s “The Boys,” Annie January (Erin Moriarty), a newly minted member of Vought Corporation’s elite superhero group The Seven, is introduced to the world as Starlight. With the ability to emit a blinding light, she is a welcome addition to the publicly adored team, which consists of fellow super-powered citizens Homelander (Antony Starr), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), Translucent (Alex Hassell), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). READ MORE
