TORONTO FASHION WEEK® ANNOUNCES FULL SPRING/SUMMER 2020 SCHEDULE

TORONTO, ON — The countdown begins as Toronto Fashion Week® today released the full event schedule and programming details for Spring/Summer 2020. For its fifth consecutive season, Toronto Fashion Week® is committed to delivering unique, exhilarating and thoughtful programming that will take over the lavish Yorkville neighbourhood from September 3 to 5 –  creating an immersive and experiential community of fashion, art, food and culture, unlike ever before.

With an already impressive roster of talent previously announced, Toronto Fashion Week® confirmed the final round of highly anticipated designers to join the runway this season, including cutting-edge newcomers and fashion titans such as Kim NewportTrigère, Adrian ArnieriFarley ChattoSteven LejambeAnisha Kumar, 90’s Kids and Wuxly. Toronto Fashion Week® also welcomes The FeralRVNG,TOMÉ and Jared Lang Collection to show alongside longtime favourites, Christopher BatesHilary MacMillan,Lesley Hampton and Narces.

This season, Toronto Fashion Week® also announced a brand-new venue – FASHION HOUSE, a non-traditional, dynamic space located in the heart of Yorkville (78 Yorkville Ave). All additional shows and events will take place at the impressive venues of Yorkville Village, The Hazelton Hotel, and the Royal Ontario Museum. Backstage, hair will be provided exclusively by Redken Fifth Avenue NYC and led by Jorge Joao, Global Redken artist.

The highly anticipated live taping podcast, Fashion Talks, returns to Toronto Fashion Week this season. Guests will join beloved host Donna Bishop at the Hazleton Hotel for intimate conversations with some of the most recognizable faces in fashion, film, beauty and photography, including Franklin Benjamin ElmanRon White and Kimberley Newport-Mimran. Affectionately known as ‘Designer Spotlight Episodes’, Bishop refers to the programming as a glimpse at the origin stories of designers who are leaders and stalwarts of the industry, both in Canada and abroad.

The Brand is Female’s Eva Hartling will be sitting down for a podcast episode recording with women who are leading a revolution in the retail industry through innovative business models. Guests including BonLook Founder & CEO Sophie Boulanger, as well as other female founders who are disrupting the status quo in their category, will discuss their brand experience, and how they thrive in a market that is in constant flux. The Brand is Female will also record a live podcast to launch the #SENTALER4SickKids: Wear Your Supportcampaign featuring President and Creative Director of SENTALERBojana Sentaler, and other women in fashion to promote philanthropy at all financial levels through creative partnerships and initiatives.

 Back by popular demand, the Toronto Fashion Week® Marketplace will return to The Lane at Yorkville Village (136 Yorkville Ave.) throughout the duration of TFW.  Each day, from 10 AM through 7 PM, guests will be provided with an engaging, shoppable marketplace experience with outstanding Canadian designers from all areas of the industry, including Erin Marcus DesignsLa ReynaLesley Hampton, Christopher Bates, ooobabyThe Brand is FemaleROSÉ Toronto, Hania Kuzbari, BIKOClara LifestyleMaguire BoutiqueJessica BedardOkayok, and ai Toronto Seoul.

To continue to bridge the fashion and entrepreneurial communities, City MOGULS, in partnership with Toronto Fashion Week® is excited to host an original speaker series – Talk the Walk. The theme of this original content series is Building Your Brand with Impact and Story Telling. Proceeds from this panel will support Dress for Success Toronto®and their mission to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. The speaker lineup includes Niki Sky (Founder & CEO, Fancy Hair + Fancy Fringe), Aya McMillan (Senior Manager, Brand & Content at Elte MKT), and Paulo Leone (Brand Strategist), and will be moderated by Katie Zeppieri (Founder, Girl Talk Empowerment).

Launching September 4thXPOSED will exhibit a photo series titled Icon in the Making,  featuring Canadian-born YouTube sensation, actress, and model Gigi Gorgeous, shot by world renowned Fashion photographer Chris Nicholls. With art treatments by Lorca Moore and Finley Moore, this XPOSED production will display a photo series inspired by her journey to becoming her true self. Under the creative direction of George Antonopoulos and Glenna Weddle, styling by Lucia Perna, hair by Kristjan, and makeup by Alexandre DeslauriersIcon in the Making will be featured in XPOSED’s and FASHION’s October issue in celebration of gender freedom and expression.

A limited edition XPOSED X GIGI hoodie collab will be released for purchase at the event taking place in Yorkville Village with proceeds being donated to The 519 Org -Canada’s largest LGBTQ2S Community Centre.
